Sylvie Gorde — To create is your nature

Sylvie Gorde brings love to the world by making these delicate and sensual ceramic objects in her unique technique.

UNIQUE

—Is this your unique style?

—I have never seen anyone doing ceramics like that.

—They remind me of Japanese art.

—I don’t think about Japanese, I just think about how I love ceramics and what I want it to express. For me it’s like a sculpture. It is not the same design but it is the same process when I do it.

—How have you discovered this style?

—I always liked prints and I have made many experiments to come to this one.

LIFE

—What do you want to express?

—More life, not cold pieces.

SIMPLICITY

—Why do you like simple?

—I don’t know. I think I can do only this. It’s difficult to explain. Sometimes you don’t know. You know what you want, you know what you like but sometimes it is not what you like you are going to do. It comes from ...I don’t know...where does it come from...the inspiration.

LOVE

—What are you driven by?

—I need to do that. That’s my nature. If I don’t create something — I am sad and it’s not me. I think it’s ‘vitale’. It’s my life. I need to do that to be me.

—Do you do things you don’t like?

No. I don’t by order. I do only what I love. If I don’t love something I can’t do, it won’t be beautiful.

—Did you have an interest from people when you started?

—Interest yes, money not much.

—What made you want to carry on?

—I don’t know — I can’t do anything else. Someone said, “You lose because you have not tried enough to succeed.”

I can’t do anything else. It is not a choice in fact.
