14. Birth

So now in a hotel room. My meeting with Geppetto is tomorrow, he is expecting the design and I still have no idea how to come up with one. In the meantime, I am gazing at the briefcase that is under the bed next to mine. Suddenly it hits me — the briefcase is different because it has a sloped line! It struck like lightning: that is it! Realising that an object can have an unconventional shape but retain its essence feels so empowering! A clear vision of my concept has been born: every inspiration I’ve ever had, has found its place in this design: French elegance from the 60s, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, wooden Pinocchio, The Avant-Garde, Japanese Zen, highest quality, even my grandmother’s beloved briefcase. I could not believe that one bag has encapsulated so much of my life! This is perfection. This vision didn’t come from me; something else moved it through me. Something I have never experienced before. My soul celebrated.
